Evaluation, Addressing my Target Audience
My product speaks in the language of my target audience; this is because I have written my article and the subtitles within my contents page in a way that my target audience will understand, as the language used is quite simplistic, so it will not put the audience off reading the magazine. I learnt that I had to do this from my journalistic techniques I my planning, this is where I looked at how pieces are written to reflect on the target audience, so I think from reading my article the reader will know that my targeted audience is from a working class – lower middle class background. My product attracts the audience with the style and the contents, I have included images that reflect my target audience as they are of the same age range, and therefore they will attract their attention as they will then be influenced by what these people are doing. For the content of my magazine I have included elements that my target audience will find interesting, this includes images that are amusing on my contents page, as they are amusing my audience will find them amusing so they will turn to those pages to find out what the images are all about. I have also included features in my contents page which will appeal to the target audience, such as a ‘Gig Guide’ and a ‘Gadget guide’ for the month, these are mostly for the lower middle class audience as they will be able to afford the gadgets mentioned in the pages and will also be able to afford the tickets for the upcoming gigs that are promoted in the pages.. I have included artists and bands as features in my magazine who I think are mainstream, and will appeal to most people. In my feature article I have included an image which has intertextuality, as it looks like the iconic Abbey Road from The Beatles as most people should recognise this iconic image, this is significant because it will make the audience wonder why the image is in the magazine and then realise that this is ‘The Figures’ not The Beatles! i have identified the fact that I have featured a new and upcoming band on the front cover and they are the main feature inside the magazine as the Unique Selling Point of magazine, this is because my magazine is all about combining new with the old. I have included all of these elements because I have had constant feedback from my target audience throughout the production process. As when I have made a significant change to one of my products I have asked a member of my class their opinions to see if the change make the product better or worse, and to also see what they find more appealing.
