Analysis of Magazine Cover

The main focal point of this magazine cover is the photograph; this is because it covers the whole magazine. The fact that the subject in the photo was looking straight at the camera when the shot was taken makes it look as if the subject in the image is looking at the viewer, this helps the viewer feel involved with the subject and it will help the reader connect with the magazine. The fact that the subject in the image is holding the student diary will help the target audience (students of the college) relate to what the magazine is about as they will realise that this magazine cover is targeted to them.

The main title of the magazine entitled ‘Enorf mag’ has been written in typography which makes me think of school. It looks hand written and it will make people relate to the magazine. All of the other font styles used are very simple, I did this so they could not be misunderstood. I have stuck to three main colours, black, white and red. All of these colours link well together. The colour red is very bold and bright therefore attracting the viewer’s eye. I have used this colour as the main subtitles, this is so the viewer will see these first. The colour black has been used as the points underneath the main subtitle; this is so the smaller points do not detract from the focus on the subtitles. I have used the ‘Facebook’ logo to make people look twice. This will then make people see that this magazine has a ‘Facebook’ page. This is significant because almost every person in the college will have a ‘Facebook’ page and it will make people feel involved as if they are a part of the magazine.

I have included a top strip in my magazine, this is because I wanted the magazine cover to give as much information as possible which would entice the target audience of teenagers at the college to pick it up and read it. I have included the date of which the magazine is going to be released, as it will help the viewer realise how old the magazine is and weather they have got the latest issue. I have also included the release date for the next magazine to be released, this is so people will realise that the magazine is released every two weeks.
